How to renew your SSL certificate
Renewing is easy
The renewal process is easy because it is just the same as the original purchase process.
You should place an order on our site for exactly the same certificate type (number of servers and years may vary) to secure exactly the same domain name. These need to be identical so that GeoTrust/RapidSSL recognises your details when you paste your CSR in to their server. GeoTrust/RapidSSL will add any remaining life of your current certificate to the life of the new one, which you will then receive. You should then install this on your servers as before.
When to Renew
The renewal process cannot be done until you have 3 months or less remaining on your current certificate. You should get reminder emails sent to you at 89 days, 59 days, 29 days, etc
I purchased my certificate elsewhere, can I renew with ProntoSSL?
Yes, you can renew with ProntoSSL and save money. If you are renewing exactly the same certificate type for the same domain name (see above) then any remaining life will be added to the new certificate.
Because we are Authorised Partners of both RapidSSL and GeoTrust, your current certificate will be recognised during the collection process and we will add any remaining life of your current certificate to your new certificate.
This works for all RapidSSL and GeoTrust certificates, it does not matter where you purchased your current certificate from. There are no exceptions - don't let your current supplier tell you differently.
